Prepare your MSP for potential state legislation that’s changing the way the channel does business.

Starting February 1, 2021, Louisiana enacts the first bill regulating MSPs and MSSPs. While the channel-regulation debate has waged for a while, Senate Bill 273 signals the beginning of a trend toward government imposed standards.

Official registration with the state and declaration of ‘good standing,’ plus extended breach notification laws, seek to shift responsibility of security from victimized businesses, to cybersecurity providers. As other states, and eventually, the federal government consider similar bills, MSPs have another reason to proactively self-regulate with a strong cyber-security stance.
